Supervisors discuss future for clinics, Tunica Airport

Two medical facilities currently operated by Tunica County are moving closer to becoming Rural Health Clinics, according to reports presented to the Board of Supervisors on Oct. 15.

In a summary submitted by healthcare consultant Angela Perkins, a final walk through of the clinics was slated to occur on Oct. 17. After that, the facilities would be ready for a survey by the Mississippi Department of Health’s Division of Health Facilities and Licensure.

Administrator Barbara Conway told supervisors that the survey would occur without notice. She anticipated that no adverse conditions that would be present.

County administrator Adrian McKay asked why a survey would be stopped.

Conway said not having a provider in the building would be a reason to stop the survey. MSDH would then charge a fee to come back and complete the survey.
