Anne Williford Hasselle

Anne Williford Hasselle, 97, of Memphis, TN died September 12, 2015 of natural causes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Memphis, with a reception to follow.

She leaves behind children Robert Marion, Jr. (Caroline) of Rock Hill, S.C. a nationally known artist; Henry Judson (Christy) of Memphis; Thomas Williford (Becky) of Dyersburg, TN; and Wendlandt (Bard Selden) Hasselle, of Hollywood, MS, as well as “#1 Son” Charles Parrish, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves first cousins David and Richard (famous poet) Tillinghast and Dan Williford, nephews Judson, Stevie, Paul and niece Betsy Williford.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert “Billy” Marion Hasselle; one brother J.S.Williford, Jr. (Julia); parents Bertha Chlotilde Duttlinger and Judson Staley Williford; doting aunt Christina (Teem) Louisa D. Holden; beloved and sagacious family retainer and great soul food cook Margaret Milam, who ran the household and was best friend, confidante, adviser and psychiatrist to all for 35 years; grandparents Minnie Jacocks and Adoniram Judson (AJ) Williford; Emma Wendlandt and Henry George Duttlinger; and great grandparents Minna Ullman and John Wendlandt, and Josepha Hetzel and Johann Duttlinger (early German immigrants to Memphis).
