Tunica Countians: turn away from this madness and turn back to Christ
After reviewing this candidacy list hearing and seeing all this negativity about Tunica County, my silence has been broken. As a lifelong resident of Robinsonville and a native of Tunica County, it is heartbreaking, embarrassing, and idiotic for our people to continue down a path of destruction which says to the world that our people are incompetent, dysfunctional, and inconsiderate.
In studying history, I found that Tunica means “the people”. It is derived from Native Americans who still live in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The Native Americans who established Tunica also lived by three principles. They “went to war to protect their families”; they had palisades (reinforced walls) around them to guard against attack, and they elected leaders who would represent their community “well” and make sound decisions that would benefit the community and not just themselves.
