Presley opposes nuclear waste site
How do you answer a federal agency that wants to make your state the repository for the entire nation’s nuclear waste?
“Hell no, we won’t glow!” says Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley.
Mississippi’s Public Service Commission was the first state agency to go on record opposing the move. The Commission passed a resolution June 3 calling on the federal government to cease consideration of any area in the state as a potential site for a national repository.
“I was proud to sponsor these resolutions that clearly say ‘no’ to the plans of the U.S. Department of Energy and others to make Mississippi the nation’s nuclear waste dump,” Presley said.
