California trip is one more step in Acey’s recovery
In early October, when Madysen Acey stood on the beach looking out at the Pacific Ocean, what lay behind her was an inspiring story of tragedy, strength, perseverance and ultimately, hope.
Madysen was a happy, outgoing 10 year old when her life changed on April 25, 2010. She was climbing on a piece of farm equipment at a friend’s house when she lost her balance and reached out for something to break her fall. She grabbed a low lying power line that sent electricity surging through her body. The accident left burns on her hands, arms and hip and sent her to Lebonheur Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery.
