There Will Be No Poor Among You
Deuteronomy 15:1-11

Theocracies have never worked.  We have seen failures in our lifetime, as several countries have attempted to organize their governments based on Islamic principles.  Our spiritual ancestor John Calvin was able to make a theocratic-centered government work for a while in Geneva, but that city is now organized on secular principles.  Any time human beings, no matter how well intended or how devout, have tried to make a country or even a city follow some religious principles, they have failed.  Sooner or later all such governments have ceased to exist.
