Parks & Rec teamwork impacts citizens’ health
At Tunica Parks & Recreation, the name of the game is “partnering.”
Recreation director Billy Willis’ involvement with the Regional Health Council and its local affiliate is just one more way the recreation officials have found to reach out.
Even though membership for Tunica County Recreation has exceeded 1200, Willis isn’t satisfied.
“We want to engage the entire adult and youth populations,” Willis remarked at last month’s health council meeting.
He and other rec officials are reaching out to engage churches to “educate and encourage their congregations” to adopt healthy lifestyles. The Henderson Recreation complex most recently hosted a Clergy Walk.
