Blues Gateway project exceeds estimates
The Gateway to the Blues will now go up in three stages, following action by the Board of Supervisors on Friday, July 30.
In mid July, supervisors received bids on the creation of the Gateway to the Blues Visitors Center. The low bidder, W.G Yates & Sons Construction of Memphis, estimated costs at $1.4 million.
On July 30, Dulaney said the bids exceeded the grant funding allotted for the project. Grant funds, awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, totalled $925,000.
