Preservation hearing is Tuesday
Michelle Jones of Starkville has seen her home city work to preserve the historic character of its neighborhoods and business district. She has helped shaped guidelines for new development; those guidelines, in turn, have helped to maintain property values for both residents and commercial property owners.
Jones hopes Tunica will join a growing number of cities in the state who want to keep the character and charm that make a city or town attractive to visitors and residents alike.
Jones, a local government assistance coordinator in the historic preservation division of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, was in Tunica Tuesday to sign off on the town’s plan for a local historic district.
