Farmers may consider prevented planting rules
The prevented planted rules with the Farm Service Agency has not changed much in thelast several years. Officials said the same situation may be a reality for 2013.
Corn planting has really not even started due to frequent rains the area has been receiving. Tunica County has been receiving a rain around every four days. The final date to plant corn, according to Crop Insurance is April 25, 2013. “This does not give everyone much time since we are already in April,” said Tunica County’s Farm Service Agency Director Darryl Waller.
