For Scott Rhines, Tunica Florist and MarketPlace is more than just a business. It’s the symbol of his finding his way back home.
Rhines left Tunica in 2009, after owners of Main Street Market Antiques on Edwards Avenue made a hard decision to dissolve the business. Rhines took a job as town clerk for Como, Miss. He lived and worked there until June of 2012, when a new path began to unfold before him.
“My endings caught up with me, and I decided I really wanted to be from somewhere,” Rhines said. “My house (in Como) sold on June 19 and I bought the shop in August. In six weeks’ time, I sold a house, put my stuff in storage, got an apartment, made a deal on a business, leased a house, got my stuff out of storage and started a flower shop. I’ve never looked back on it. I needed a life change and a job change.”
