Series of storms sweeps through community
Five separate tornado warning sirens blared in Tunica in three hours last Wednesday night, but the town – and the county, for the most part – escaped major damage in severe thunderstorms, high winds and quarter-sized hail that swept through the Mid-South starting at about 7:45 p.m.
“We had damage to a few trees downtown and lots of small limbs and leaves scattered,” Public Works Director Ellis Koonce said Thursday, “but no major effects except a utility pole down near the elementary school that knocked out power on the south end of town.”
