Cookin with The Columns: Family traditions
All the things I have cooked for Christmas got me to thinking about the legacy we leave each other through our recipes. Last week, I made my aunt’s Italian Cream Cake, which I got through my mother; my Sunbeam teacher’s sugar cookies; my mother’s boiled custard; my grandmother’s sweet potatoes; my mother’s macaroni and cheese; my step-mother’s pineapple casserole and breakfast casserole; and my friend’s sour dough bread, among other things.
