Obedient Unto Death
Obedience. It’s not a word we like. We don’t like doing what we’re told. We don’t like obeying orders. If we did, our armed forces would have no trouble filling its quota every month. But that’s not for us. We’d rather believe the hype that says we’re the masters of our fate, that we’re in control of our lives.
Today’s Scripture passages tell a different story. Mary is obedient to God’s will. She has been infused with the Holy Spirit, and will give birth to God’s Son.
