Delta Regional Authority awards funding
Digital Opportunity Trust USA (DOT USA) has been awarded a $360,000 grant from the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) to place 106 fulltime TeachUp! Technology Interns in 13 Mississippi Delta counties to deliver training in 21st century technology to students, teachers and adults of this distressed region.
Utilizing this $360,000 grant, DOT USA will recruit, train and deploy 106 tech-savvy Delta natives as TeachUp! Technology Interns in public schools and WIN Job Centers in 13 counties where they will help improve the digital literacy and computer skills of more than 50,000 students, 3,000 teachers and help 10,000 clients of WIN Centers better utilize technology to prepare for and secure better-paying jobs. Upon completion of their year-long internship, which provides on-the-job training and hands-on experience, the 106 TeachUp! Interns will be qualified for high-level jobs in the technology field.
