Mississippi Middle School students dancing towards good health
The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) is pleased to announce the expansion of its “Moving Toward the Art of Good Health: Integrated Health Curriculum” (MTAGH) to include 10 schools across the state during the 2011-2012 school year. This program was conceived by the Mississippi Arts Commission as an artful response to the Healthy Students Act requiring K-8 students receive 45 minutes of health education and 150 minutes of physical activity each week. MTAGH is now providing students from 10 middle schools across the state an opportunity to learn not only about dance and wellness, but about teamwork, manners, social skills, and respect for others, while garnering self-confidence and self-esteem.
