Aldermen alter water shutoff date
The switch from a flat rate to metered water brought to light another matter at the March 15 meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
In the past, customers did not face a disconnection of service until they owed a current balance and one month’s past due balance. Mayor Chuck Cariker pointed out that with the new rates most bills that reflect two months of service are now greater than the $50 deposit required for service, especially when late fees are tacked on.
