Board: Times are tough
The March 8 meeting of the Board of Supervisors painted a picture of a still struggling economy.
Road manager Billy Watson reported that Harrah’s Entertainment had requested that Tunica County take over maintenance of medians along Harrah’s Boulevard. The medians include landscaping elements that would need to be mowed and kept free of weeds. Watson said there was a “gentleman’s agreement” between the organization and the county stating that upkeep of that area would be the casino’s responsibility many years ago. Now, casino officials are seeking to change that agreement.
Supervisor Bobby Williams said he had concerns that Harrah’s would also want the county to take on lighting costs.
