A memorial service for Billy Lee Koonce of West Point will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Chapel of Memories on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.
Mr. Koonce passed away on Jan. 16, 2011, after a long illness.
He attended Tunica County High School and Mississippi State University, where he was a cheerleader and member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a loyal contributor to Mississippi State, with gifts to the Bulldog Club and Alumni Association. He was the longtime owner and operator of Cole Insurance Agency in Amory, Miss.
Mr. Koonce is survived by his wife, Joanne D. Koonce; children, Randy Maples of Starkville, Miss; Gray Maples of Tupelo; Doug Maples of Tupelo; Darrel Daige of Raleigh, N.C.; Allen Daige of Knoxville, Tenn; Stacey Daige Strong of Natchez; and a brother, Ellis Koonce of Tunica.
He was loved and adored by his niece and nephews.
