County switches insurance
Down to the wire on a decision that affects over 350 employees, county supervisors accepted their agent of record’s recommendation on May 29 and voted to switch health insurance carriers.
But the move was not without complications, as officials learned Friday that premiums to the new companies would have to be paid up front.
Districts 4 and 5 supervisors Henry Nickson and McKinley Daley called for an emergency meeting sometime Friday, and the Board met at 8 a.m. Saturday to approve manual checks, one to United Healthcare for $211,633.50 and another to Employee Benefits for $39,375, a total of $251,008.50.
