Old Man Winter comes calling
Heavy rains Sunday night turned into sleet, freezing rain and snow Monday morning, causing power outages throughout the entire town of Tunica and most of the county, with areas near Robinsonville the worst hit.
Tunica Countians woke up to a frozen world, with temperatures hovering in the teens and no heat or lights, reminding many of the devastating ice storm of 1994. But unlike 1994, utility crews were able to isolate and repair a problem north of the town and get most town customers back up and running by noon Monday.
A few town residents along and near the intersection of Shady Lane and School Street were among the last in town to get power back about 5 p.m.
