Town trees, courts get needed attention
Now in its 10th year as a Tree City, Tunica has asked its advisory board to become even more involved in the well-being of the town’s trees.
The five-member Tree Board – June Wheeler, Carolyn Caraway, Charla Lofton, Brooks Taylor and Mary Don Koonce and town board liaison Charles Hailey – has been charged with helping town officials find suitable replacements for trees downtown, in town parks and along right of way that belongs to the city.
“We see this an an opportunity to get citizen input,” Tunica mayor Chuck Cariker said.
