African Children’s Choir pronounced ‘awesome’
Waiting to board their Coahoma County School bus, two youngsters from Sherard Elementary pronounced the African Children’s Choir “awesome” in no uncertain terms.
Earlier, 1,000 additional students from Charleston in East Tallahatchie to Quitman County Elementary in Marks, and schools across north Mississippi and Arkansas packed Clarksdale’s Civic Auditorium and thundered their applause in praise of the 8 and 9-year-old performers.
Clad in sandals with bright orange and brown costumes - girls in headbands and dresses and boys in brilliant shirts over brown pants, the Grammy-nominated choir captivated the audience with brilliant smiles, bell clear harmony, and infectious non-stop motion to African drumming.
