Blessed relief for crops, town water system
A downpour Tuesday morning brought .65 inches of rain and gave farmers and town officials a slight reprieve from the heat and drought that were threatening to burn up crops and deplete the city water supply.
Through Monday, July 12, only .18 inches of rain had fallen throughout the month, following on the heels of an extremely hot and dry June.
Average high and low temperatures moderated somewhat in July, but combined with last month’s total rainfall of .48 inches, less than an inch of rain had fallen over the past six weeks before July 13’s rain.
