Rates on tap for hearing
With water wells now pumping an average of 16 hours a day, officials for the town of Tunica are putting the next step in the people’s hands. The Mayor and Board of Alderman will host a public hearing on town water and sewer services on Thursday, June 17.
During the hearing, officials will seek input from the public on proposed changes to residential and commercial water and sewer rates. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the board room at town hall.
In previous meetings, the board has discussed tailoring rates in line with what the Tunica County Utility District charges. Rates range from $10 to $12 for residential water and sewer services. Commercial customers may pay between $12 and $300 for water and sewer.
