Early a.m. robber hits local cafe’

An early break-in at Tunica’s famous Blue & White Restaurant caused more extensive physical damage than the loss of any goods or cash, says owner Steven Barbieri.

Security cameras captured a single individual entering the building at 12:56 a.m. on Sunday, November 10, after he broke through double glass doors on the south side of the iconic blue and white building at the intersection of Highway 61 and River Road in Tunica.

Local History: Annals filled with fascinating people

The stories of colorful Tunicans who populate our history continue to fascinate visitors. Three who contributed significantly to local lore are Harold Clanton, Mrs. Rosa Fort, and Calvin Norwood.

Harold “Hardface”  Clanton.  and his juke joint were staples of blues entertainment  in Tunica County for over forty years.

Clanton, who earned his nickname “Hardface”  from the stone cold face he wore while playing poker, had an entrepreneurial spirit.  While serving in the Army during World War II, he saved all of his income and opened a juke joint on his return home.  His business savvy quickly made him one of the county’s most successful men.
